I understand that the Pentagon was telling the President “don’t you dare,” and that it’s difficult for Democratic presidents to take on DOD. But at some point, Democrats are going to need to “man up,” as it were, to a Defense leadership that doesn’t fully understand what civilian control of the military is all about.
